Actual stats and applied stats can differ depending on a skill’s effect.

This man is Heaven Guild’s guildmember and MeTuber, Hur Suhyuk, also known as Hershey.

The hunter Jaeun said he liked.

“Hello, Hunter Hur Suhyuk. My nephew is a fan, we meet like this.”

“Ah, yes! I seem to be popular with young children.”

Jaeun isn’t that young. But since Jiho’s only 24, he’s used to people assuming that his nephew is a child.

Instead of correcting him, Jiho carefully read through Hur Suhyuk’s system window. There seems to be an error in the ranking assessment, as his rank in the system is different from what’s known.

Information

Since Juhyuk-hyung is the Best (Lv. 1)
RankF
DescriptionNo matter what I do, I can never be better than Hyung. Hyung is superior in height, looks, personality, and even ability. I am only an inferior version of Hur Juhyuk. The expectations of our parents and the attention of others is all focused on Hyung. Something like me is nothing.
As long as this skill exists, the user can only use half of their abilities.

Jiho had noticed that most of Hur Suhyuk’s skills have a gloomy tone to them; this skill seems to be the final result of that.

It’s an established theory that an awakened one’s personality and disposition have an influence on their skills. Thanks to this, not many people worry about the work that comes with their skills not fitting their dispositions.

It seems that in Hur Suhyuk’s case, his habit of belittling himself because he “can’t do it anyways” played a negative role on himself.

Based on the skill’s description, it looks like he grew up being compared to his older brother.

Since he can only use half of his abilities while that skill is active, it’s no wonder he was assessed at a rank lower than his actual one.

‘What a waste. His skill set is good too.’

Information

Listen to My Song! (Lv. 9)
RankA
DescriptionPlease listen to my song, everyone. Then you and I will be destined together. Like this, I will find peace and a place to breathe in this world….
When you sing, all of the stats of the people within a certain area who have favorable feelings towards Hur Suhyuk increase by 300 pts.
The effect lasts 3 minutes for a single word, 10 minutes for a single measure, 30 minutes for the first verse, and 2 hours if you sing till the second verse.
Due to the effect of [Since Juhyuk-hyung is the Best], the skill’s effect and duration are halved.

Information

Fan Service (Lv. 8)
RankA
DescriptionFans give you love. However, nothing in this world is for free. Even if that’s someone’s heart. That is why you must return the favor to the fans who love you.
The skill’s effects differ depending on the special move you use while the skill is active.

Cheer: Increases the receiver’s STR by 100 pts. Lasts 1 hour.
Smile: Increases the receiver’s AGI by 100 pts. Lasts 1 hour.
Handshake: Heals the receiver’s injuries.
Peck on the Cheek: Restores the receiver’s stats.

Due to the effect of [Since Juhyuk-hyung is the Best], the skill’s effect and duration are halved.

His two most useful A-rank skills have the debuff on them. What terrible luck.

“Um, Guildmaster-nim? You seem to be nervous today.”

Suhyuk called Jiho, who was distracted by this unprecedented situation of a promising A-rank hunter’s abilities being halved. Startled, Jiho smiled.

“Ah, I apologize.”

“What were you thinking just now?”

“Just… as you said, I must be nervous.”

“And that is natural. Even if you are No Name’s guildmaster, this is definitely a nerve-wracking situation.  But it will be fine. Heaven Guild will show you just how capable we are!”

Suhyuk sounded as bright and energetic as a host of a variety show. Had Jiho not seen Suhyuk’s system window, he might’ve assumed Suhyuk was naturally optimistic, but….

‘He’s probably forcing himself right now.’

If the skill is strong enough to cut Suhyuk’s abilities in half, despite what he shows on the outside, Suhyuk is probably suffering inside. How pitiful….

‘Focus, he’s part of your rival guild.’

It hasn’t been that long since he scolded Jaeun for rooting for their rival guild, what does that make Jiho if he pities Suhyuk?

This isn’t something Jiho can help with in the first place. Because the issue lies with Suhyuk’s skill and not his stats, there’s no way to lift it either….

Even though there’s no reason for him to feel guilty, Jiho, who still felt sorry for Hur Suhyuk, smiled.

“This is my first time in an S-rank dungeon, so I might make mistakes, but please take care of me.”

“Of course. You might feel nervous, but since our guildmaster and vice-guildmaster are here, you can be rest-assured. I am lacking, but I will do my best to assist those two!”

“Hm, but Hunter Hur Suhyuk and I will be supports together. I do not have the hang of being a support hunter yet, so I hope you will help me.”

Suhyuk, surprised by Jiho’s words, showed his embarrassment for the first time. Ears bleeding red, Suhyuk shook his head like a rattle.

“Ah. Th-this is also my first time in this dungeon, so I don’t know it very well either…. I probably won’t be much help. Of course, I will keep cheering you on!”

“No way. You have more experience in dungeons than I do…. But besides that, your hair was light blue in the video I watched, I see it’s pink today?”

“Ah, yes!”

Hur Suhyuk is so self-deprecating of himself that it manifested into one of his skills. Because Suhyuk has carried this mindset his entire life, no matter how many times Jiho praises him, not only will it not help, but it’ll only make Suhyuk more awkward.

That’s why Jiho purposefully changed the subject. Looking relieved, Suhyuk answered even louder. Then, he rambled animatedly.

“As you might already know, this is a hair dye item. I own over ten of these.”

“Over ten?”

“Yes. That’s more than the average idol. Since I’m a hunter, it’s easier for me to purchase them…. Ah, right.”

Suhyuk paused and suddenly touched his ear before pulling off an accessory. The ear cuff must’ve been the hair dye item. As soon as Suhyuk took it off, his hair color immediately returned to a normal black.

Suhyuk grinned as he handed Jiho his ear cuff.

“Would you like to try it on?”

“Excuse me?”

“Try it on! I think it will look good on you/”

“This, on me?”

“Yep!”

Despite Jiho’s reluctance, Suhyuk eagerly nodded.

“All you have to do is slip it on your ear. It doesn’t hurt, and it’ll return to normal as soon as you take it off!”

“I don’t think it would look good on me. That… pink.”

“But I think it will look good?”

How?

Jiho looked at him skeptically, but Suhyuk didn’t budge.

“I can already tell that it will look good on you. It’s because your skin is so pale and clear. They say that awakened one’s don’t have skin trouble, but old scars remain. Yet Guildmaster-nim doesn’t even have those. Wow, this is my first time seeing someone with such clear skin.”

Suhyuk raised his hand and slipped the ear cuff on Jiho’s ear. Jiho hesitatingly fiddled with the ear cuff.

It’s not really an issue to try on an item that has no other effect besides changing his hair color, but….

“It’s such an honor to be entering a dungeon with you today, do you mind if we take one photo together?”

“…”

It’s another issue to have this appearance permanently captured through a photo. Right when Jiho was about to refuse….

“Guildmaster-nim doesn’t have a social media account, right? I feel like Guildmaster-nim’s fans would like it if I uploaded a picture of you to my social media!”

“…”

Jiho paused at Suhyuk’s words.

This is an era where hunters are envied and appear through multiple channels. As such, they can even gather fans.

Most of the public are fans of a hunter’s overwhelming strength and the societal advantages that that power brings, but there are also fans who like hunters for being human like themselves.

As it hasn’t been long since advancing to S-rank, the fans who started liking Jiho for his ability as a hunter are still in the minority. Most of Jiho’s longtime fans became fans thanks to his appearance.

No matter the reason, Jiho always felt apologetic for having nothing to give back to the people who love and worry about him.

‘Why don’t you do a photoshoot like Hunter Joo Yiwon does to repay your fans?’

Even if his fans started liking him for his face, Shin Jiho is, after all, a hunter. A photoshoot? Just the thought of it makes him embarrassed. Jiho couldn’t tell if it was a joke or not, but he had vehemently rejected Heo Sori’s suggestion….

But isn’t a picture on social media okay?

“Okay, then let’s take one.”

“Wow, wouldn’t your fans really like it if we took one photo with the hair dye item and one with your normal hair color?”

“…”

The way Hur Suhyuk subtly increased the number of photos from one to two as soon as he got ahold of Jiho’s weak spot was as natural as a card shark performing a sleight of hand. But he isn’t wrong. Since Jiho’s taking pictures anyways, there’s no difference whether he takes one or two.

“Well, that’s fine…. Two photos.”

“Yep, thank you!”

Jiho sighed. Suhyuk quickly took his place next to Jiho as if he was afraid that Jiho would change his mind.

“Then Guildmaster-nim, I will be taking the photo now.”

“Yes.”

What Suhyuk was holding was not a hunter’s terminal but the newest phone from Heaven Electronics. Unlike Suhyuk’s natural smile from frequent selfies, Jiho’s was stiff.

Thanks to the brightening filter on the phone–a feature not on the terminal’s blocky camera–his face reflected through the screen feels strange to Jiho. The abnormally bright pink hair on top of his head looks strange too.

Suhyuk turned to Jiho, who had stiffened. Suhyuk’s expression was so serious that Jiho unconsciously grew nervous.

“Guildmaster-nim.”

“Yes?”

“Don’t use your face like that.”

“…What?”

“Why are you using that face like that? If I had Guildmaster-nim’s face, I would be doing photoshoots, shooting commercials, filming movies, ha…. Anyways, this won’t do. If we take the photo like this, people will curse me for purposefully taking a bad shot of Guildmaster-nim so that I don’t look like a squid next to you. Now, look at the lens!”

Jiho had no time to protest Suhyuk’s torrent of words. In the end, under Suhyuk’s sharp and fierce coaching, Jiho took many photos with different expressions and poses.

Suhyuk had definitely told him two photos….

“Didn’t you say it was two photos?”

“Yes, two.”

“…I feel like we took over ten photos, am I being scammed right now?”

“Haha, what do you mean scammed? Such scary words. You usually have to take multiple pictures so you can post the two best shots.”

“I see….”

Though it was exhausting, Suhyuk isn’t wrong, so there’s not much Jiho can say to that….

To think that he’s being drained not by Heaven’s guildmaster or vice-guildmaster, but by a B-rank hunter.

Jiho started to miss the two No Name guildmembers who had gone off to discuss with Heaven Guild’s combat hunters.
